Christmas Future

by Susan Kelley on 08/13/13

It's time for us to get ready for Christmas again.  Time to mow, weed, and trim trees.  It's time to configure the gift shop.  Time to plan activities for kids and puppies.  We'd love to see you during the holidays, even if you just stop by for a hot drink and a chat.  Let us be the first ones to wish you a "Merry Christmas"!

Oldest U-Cut Farm

by Susan Kelley on 03/03/13

We are pretty sure that we are the oldest U-Cut Christmas tree farm in the state!  Started in 1953 (need to amend our sign) by our grandfather, the farm has been a working farm since then.  Another farm in central Washington claims to be, but they were established at the end of the 1950s.  So, please help us in our search!  If you have proof otherwise, let us know.

Chocolate Death

by Susan Kelley on 02/20/13

I seem to have a lot in common with the mole!  It burrows in the dark, in the dirt, but still manages to find chocolate- even if it is chocolate laxative.  I can relate to this powerful drive for the treat.  I remember when I was little growing up in Kansas.  Mom had a box of chocolate diet candies.  My brothers, sister, and I sat and ate the whole box of viatmin/mineral supplements at one sitting.  She said she could wait until the middle of the night, long after we were all sound asleep, to rustle open the paper of a delicious, chocolate Hershery's bar.  Soon, four sleepy faces would round the corner looking for a "taste".  So, I understand the moles' chocolate sweet tooth, even if it means "death by chocolate" laxative.  At least they are dieing with a smile on their faces.

Moles

by Susan Kelley on 02/04/13

Okay, we are about ready to post the white flag!  We put in a beautiful green lawn last summer.  It was a beautiful yard which made a nice carpet for photo ops. and pathway to the trees for customers.  Now we have tiny dirt pyramids crisscrossing it! Moles! Have tried a few things without success.  With the deer, we hung deer repellant pen-like devices from the fruit trees.  After polishing off the leaves, they used them like tooth picks.  We've adopted the philosophy of : "One for you, one for me".  One tree for the deer and one for us.  But I digress; any tips for ridding a yard of moles?
